Sia Sian came to the United States as a young adult from Bogoli, Burma. In less than one year after arriving in the United States, she obtained her driver's license, passed the Accuplacer (a prerequisite for attending nursing school), and enrolled in the nursing program at Fox Valley Technical College, where she made the Dean's List. She obtained funding for her education through a Wal-Mart grant, on her own initiative, and is also studying Spanish. Her goal is to obtain an advanced nursing degree, while working in the field as an RN.
