We’re excited to share the success of our recent Financial Education Workshops, hosted in collaboration with the Oshkosh Public Library and Community First Credit Union.
This program was created to help community members build confidence in their finances – matter the starting point. Over the course of three sessions, participants learned practical skills, from budgeting to understanding credit to planning for long-term goals, all in a welcoming, supportive environment.
Making this series accessible to all was a top priority. To ensure no one was held back from attending, we offered transportation assistance, childcare, and translation services for anyone who needed them.
The workshops primarily covered the basics around budgeting. Session one started with understanding your finances, the second moved into spending and budgeting basics, and the third dove into creating a personalized monthly budget.
During each session, participants were broken up into small groups, each working with their own financial specialist. This ended up providing the most beneficial part of the series – the chance to ask personalized and specific questions. Participants were able to get tailored guidance and insight into their individual financial situation.
We were delighted by the thoughtful questions, the willingness and interest to learn, and many participants left expressing greater confidence and a clearer path toward their financial goals.
We are so grateful to our facilitators, translators, and everyone who made this series possible. We look forward to offering this series, and more, in the future.
