Donna Nelson (she/her)
ArtsCore, UW-Oshkosh

Donna Nelson serves as the Director of ArtsCore, an organization unique to the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh that supports future and practicing teachers interested in teaching in and through the arts–a role she has held since 2015. She has been a dedicated member of the university since 2003. With more than 20 years of experience in the program development, Donna specializes in outreach and cultivating strong partnerships across campus and throughout the Fox Valley region. She brings exceptional organizational skills, a customer-service mindset. and expertise in event planning, reflective practices, budgeting, and data management.

As part of the Executive Leadership Team, Donna has contributed to strategic marketing initiatives. focused on sustainability, growth, and succession planning. She is also passionate about mentoring emerging educators, and supervising student interns, and supporting them throughout their college careers. For Donna, the most rewarding aspect of her work is building lasting relationships with preservice and practicing teachers as they grow in their profession. 

What does literacy mean to you?

Literacy, to me, is the foundation of learning. It opens doors to curiosity, critical thinking, and the ability to participate fully in school, community, and life. It’s the bridge that helps students access knowledge and share their voice.
