The Oshkosh Experience Class Visits Local Fire Station

Last month, one of WALC’s classes, The Oshkosh Experience made a visit to our local fire station. Just a few blocks away from WALC’s Learning Center, the classes strolled over to learn more about the trucks, tools, and activities of the station.

For many learners, it was their first time inside an American firehouse – and the experience sparked curiosity and conversation. Beyond learning new vocabulary, the visit helped students better understand how emergency services work in Oshkosh.

The class all enjoyed the trip, with one attendee even saying that he would now like to become a firefighter!

Field trips like this bring language to life. They help students build vocabulary, confidence, and a sense of understanding of their community. We’re grateful to the firefighters for their time, kindness, and commitment to education.
