Celebrating New Voices New Faces Summer Program

New Voices New Faces is an art-integrated summer program offered by the Winnebago Area Literacy Council, in collaboration with the Oshkosh Area School District and the UWO ArtsCore Program. Designed for middle and high school students from refugee backgrounds, the program offers a creative and interactive learning environment. Under the guidance of licensed Master Teachers, ArtsCore students gain hands-on experience by developing curriculum and lesson plans that integrate art into language and literacy instruction. The program is made possible through generous funding from the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families’ Refugee School Impact Grant.

By taking a learner centered approach to teaching, collaborators from The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh (ArtsCore) and The Winnebago Area Literacy Council work to ensure academic success throughout the program.

This year, New Voices New Faces offered weekly field trips. Each Friday, members of the program would embark on a unique and educational experience to somewhere within the city of Oshkosh and the surrounding area.
