Emma joined WALC in July of 2024 as the Development & Communications Manager. In May of 2025, she was promoted to Assistant Director. Prior to her time with WALC, Emma working in freelance event management and operations. She attended American University in Washington DC where she obtained a BS in Business Administration specialized in Finance and Entrepreneurship as well as a MS in Sustainability Management.

A passion for education equality and community enrichment paired with diverse experience with operations, events, marketing, and fundraising Emma is looking forward to driving engagement at WALC!

In her free time, Emma enjoys reading, listening to music, thrifting, cooking, and spending time outdoors.

What does literacy mean to you?

Literacy is everything. It’s the skills we need to flourish in life. Whether it’s traditional reading and writing, or financial and digital skills, literacy shows up in countless ways, even in the simplest everyday tasks. To me, literacy is broad and expanding, and it offers something for everyone to learn.
